How is KLAASWOOD made?

The production of KLAASWOOD involves a carefully controlled thermal modification process. Typically, the wood is placed in an autoclave, or chamber, where it is heated to temperatures ranging from 160°C to 180°C (320°F to 356°F) in a pressurized, inert atmosphere. The wood is heated for a specific duration, often several hours, which varies depending on the desired characteristics and the type of wood being treated. The thermal modification process modifies the wood's cellular structure, resulting in enhanced properties.

Increased dimensional stability: The treatment process reduces the wood's ability to absorb or release moisture, resulting in improved stability and reduced warping, shrinking, or swelling. Over time, this reduces the development of surface cracks. If the wood is coated, the coating will last longer because of the reduced swelling and shrinking.
